AIGDF and Ikigai Law briefing session: Data Protection and its application to the Gaming Industry

On 10th October, 2023, AIGDF, in collaboration with Ikigai Law, hosted a briefing session on India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). The session, targeting AIGDF members, and stakeholders within the gaming industry and game development community provided insight on the nitty-gritties of the law as it stands. It also provided context on the various ways in which the gaming and game development sector will have to be adapt and make changes in their day-to-day operations, and in their relationships with users and partner entities.

In the lead-up to the notification of the rules for the DPDP Act, and its implementation, the briefing session provided stakeholders in the gaming ecosystem with comprehensive information on how to collect and process personal data, and how the rights and obligations envisaged the DPDP Act will apply to businesses.
